Our biggest philanthropic project and partner is AHERO. The chapter and our brothers pride ourselves on helping the men and women, whose bravery and sacrifice enable us to operate,in any way we can. One of our biggest philanthropy events is our Biannual Skeet Shoot, which benefits AHERO. The event and its proceeds go towards helping veterans affected physically and mentally by their service for our nation. The shoot is held in the spring and fall semesters at the Lower Wetumpka Shotgun Sports Club (LWSSC). The Delta Alpha Chapter values this event highly in our philanthropy because of its deep impact on the men and women who serve our country and the brotherhood it promotes within our chapter.
About AHERO
AHERO (America's Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors) connects veterans and first responders with patriotic members of local communities by organizing outdoor events and social activities. AHERO was organized and is operated by OIF and OEF Marine Corps and Army veterans who understand the challenges today's war veterans and first responders face in reengaging the civilian world.
Event Details
Our annual AHERO Skeet Shooting event features:
- Competitive Tournament: Multiple participants from all skill levels from beginners to experienced shooters.
- Team Selection: Teams are composed of four shooters.
- Professional Instruction: Certified instructors provide safety training and shooting tips prior to the event.
- Team Competition: Teams composed of four shooters ranging from brothers' families to their friends.
- Prizes & Awards: Trophies and prizes for top shooters and teams.
- Social: Post-competition meal and the opportunity to meet other competitors.
